In the heat of MFA applications, I chose to procrastinate by illustrating the stories in my writing sample. This is the story of Cameron, a ten-year-old girl who runs away from an abusive home and is rescued by shadows.
The Interstellar Postal Service
Another instance of mid-MFA-application-procrastination-induced illustration: the story of an elderly woman named Dorothy, and her indomitable drive to send a letter to her husband, who has been abducted by aliens.
These illustrations are for Abigail Adam's short story, "The Creativity Jar," which appeared in issue four of Snapshots, Iowa City's only literary magazine written for children.
This illustration was published in issue 5 of Snapshots for Charlotte Hagan's short story, "In Search of Sandman."
I loved a friend's workshop story so much I illustrated it.
